Bases for organic synthesis and pH adjustment: alkali-metal hydroxides, carbonates, primary to tertiary amines, heterocyclic bases such as pyridine and imidazole, and strong non-nucleophilic bases for deprotonation.

For strongly hygroscopic bases, follow the storage conditions on the certificate closely, since moisture content directly affects the effective equivalent weight when weighing out. See also Acids.
